Personal History Statement
A large number of applicants never return their personal history statement to the background investigator for processing, maybe because they do not fully understand what will be asked of them during this process. The following subjects will be discussed during you background investigation: Personal information, family history, past residences, personal & employment references, military service, education, employment, relations with former employers, financial, medical, legal behavior, narcotics and drug use, and other legal miscellaneous information.
Applicants will also be required to provide original documents to the Sheriff’s Investigator so that they may be copied, such as: birth certificate, school documents and diplomas, marriage certificates, divorce decree’s, military papers, proof of selective service registration, driver’s license, bankruptcy papers, social security card, proof of legal residence, proof of automobile insurance, and any training documents that may be appropriate.
Please keep in mind that he information you provide with the packet is confidential and will be reviewed by the investigator only. SBCSAR does not have access to this information. The investigator will evaluate anything questionable in your background, and every effort will be made to resolve any issues in your favor. However, any deception during the process will automatically disqualify you and terminate your application. Experience has shown us that it is much better to be up front about any personal history than to have the investigator discover it.
