Santa Barbara County Search & Rescue is an all-volunteer branch of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department. The team covers all 2,550 square miles of Santa Barbara County and is responsible for the search and rescue of lost and injured people in the backcountry. The team is highly trained in technical rope rescue, swiftwater, alpine operations, search theory, and tracking. As a member of the Mountain Rescue Association, the team also responds to support search and rescue efforts throughout California and the United States.
Thank You Santa Barbara!!

For the last four years the Team has been dreaming of the day when we could have a modern, reliable and well equipped
command post from which to manage our
operations in the field.
In July 2005 we began fundraising and the community support was amazing. Over 20 local foundations, individuals, and even some of the people we've helped bring home safely, contributed the $132,000 required to purchase and outfit this new vehicle.
This was the largest fundraising campaign in the Team's history. Local generosity helped make this vision a reality. The Team and all of Santa Barbara County now have a much needed emergency response resource for both wilderness rescues and large scale incidents.
We took ownership of the chassis in early 2007, after three team members picked it up in Indiana and drove it back home (it was a great road test and saved us almost $1000 in shipping costs). Over the last seven months Team members have spent hundreds of hours to outfit the new command post. It is now fully operational, please take a look
inside.
It's finally here!!
